Renaissance welcome TG to the fold with his debut release on the label, a characteristically accomplished two-tracker that shows-off the range of his production skills…

Tim Green (aka TG) is a star on the rise. His initial releases on Four:Twenty established him in the scene and developed his reputation for quality, clean electronic music. However 2008 has certainly been a breakthrough year for Tim, the release of ‘Revox’ on Claude Vonstroke’s Dirtybird imprint brought notoriety as well as great critical acclaim and his follow-up release: ‘Mr Dry’ on, Cologne-based label, Trapez consolidated his position as one of the most exciting young producers in the game.

The lead track here is ‘Creature’ which flirts with the spacious feel of European techno, whilst issuing more than a nod of the head to the bay-area bumping drum patterns of his sometime acolytes: messrs. Martin & Vonstroke. A twisted vocal sample punctuates this shuffling drum work until percussion stutters into a tripped out breakdown that will leave the dancefloor in tatters. When the low-slung bassline returns the damage is really done with subtle key changes and effects fleshing out the infectious rhythms that TG has carved out.

Up next is ‘Give It A Go’: notably championed by Steve Lawler on his recent Viva: Toronto compilation. Shrouded in heavily textured loops the track is built from the ground up with meticulous attention to detail, really showing off Tim’s production skill. With more than a tip of the cap to the minimal techno sound, TG injects body, soul and groove into his work. But it is the breakdown that makes the track: as analogue chords give way to a truly beautiful guitar riff, which carries the listener away into an all-together different, dream-like space.
