Ostgut dip their toes further into the dubstepXtechno axis with this heavyweight package, bringing together Al Tourettes, Appleblim and Deuce (Marcel Dettmann & Shed) for a robust re-evaluation of Luke Slater’s recent Planetary Assault Sysytems album for the label. Appleblim and label cohort Al Tourettes steer clear of any discernable steppy templates in favour of a much more propulsive warehouse workout, deploying stretched synths and a pounding kickdrum with an effective darkroom vibe that works a treat, particularly at high volumes. Shed and Dettmann revive their ‘Deuce’ moniker for a sturdy remix on the flipside, imbuing proceedings with industrial percussion shifted down a few octaves for a more menacing kind of assault on the floor, fans of Dettmann in particular will want to get checking. Big twelve!
