Melt Festival adds extra day

The German summer festival held in a disused mine is now three days long. Headliners include Björk, Booka Shade and Franz Ferdinand.

Set against the backdrop of enormous coal digging machines, Melt! is a unique music festival that happens every year at Ferropolis, a mine now turned into an amusement park, near Lake Gremmin in Germany. With a strongly local crowd, a fine lineup of acts and of course that unusual location, Melt! is a good pick for an unusual summer festival to add to the calendar.

This year Melt! have added a third day to the festivities, with Björk headlining the final night on Sunday July 20th. The lineup is a mix of genres: Headlining rock bands include Björk, Franz Ferdinand, The Editors and The Gossip, while the electronic side is represented by label showcases from Bpitch Control (Ellen Allien, Modeselektor), Kompakt (Supermayer, Burger/Voigt, Gui Boratto) as well as Booka Shade, Alter Ego, Miss Kittin and Efdemin. More names to be announced soon
