Daniela Stickroth - The Games EP

It has been more than 18 months since the female part of meerestief’s director’s duo has had a rummage round her loft and was successful in finding the ‘Stories From The Attic EP’ including its Remixes. The EP has proved to be a key release for Daniela Stickroth, who set the direction for her career as a producer with it and in doing so has put herself on the map.The approach found on ‘The Attic’, gets its logical continuation on ‘The Games EP’, which leads us from up under the roof straight down into the brush of a mysterious forest, with moonlit clearings, trails and sweeping turns. „Hare and Tortoise’s” bass drum kicks off cautiously and tries to find its way in the dark but seems to have hopelessly lost its way within a few minutes before a pad as bright as day shows the way. Additionally, dominant chords start stabilizing this fragile construction of beats leading straight past gobsmacked Hares and Tortoises. „The Differences Game” on the other hand is sure footed, and knows its dancefloor filling task even if it rumbles with big piano hits. It respectfully gets to grip with the job using spacious flanging Dub sounds. Xhin’s remix is unusually straight for the man from Singapore who we remember as a more tousled hair fellow from past releases on meerestief (we will be adding more remixes of this EP later in the summer). He subtracts the piano from the original, adds percussion, strings, a more House orientated groove and more Dub vibe, which added up should create a magical centrifugal force on the dancers.
